Education & Scholarship
In life, Ashton was highly motivated and ambitious. In 2011, he was invited to attend St. Francis Xavier University on an athlete’s scholarship. Ashton’s goal was to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in four years. This might seem like no big deal to some but if you are a student athlete yourself, or know one, you are aware how demanding both school and sports can be. Ashton made many sacrifices to achieve his goal. In 2016, he walked across the stage and received his Bachelor’s of Arts degree.
StFX University has paid homage to Ashton with the Ashton J. Dickson Memorial Award Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to an athlete in the Ottawa area who demonstrates financial need.
